Yesterday and Todays Outfits

This was what I wore Friday (above).
This is what I have on today. I really liked how this went together. I read somewhere to put together an outfit using "threes", rather than just a skirt and shirt you should add one more item, shirt, skirt and sweater. Adding that 3rd element makes it look more put together than just the 2 items. Today is the first I've tried this and I really like how it looks!

The cardigan is a Liz Clayborn that I bought at Goodwill for $1.50! At that price, I can have a different sweater everyday. :) I like the black piping on it. I usually would have worn my brown ankle boots with this, but since the sweater has the black on it, I think I can get away with wearing my comfy black shoes today instead.

Outfit of the Day

Its a rather boring outfit today, favorite jean skirt and a basic black long-sleeve tee. I was looking at it thinking "How can I make this prettier and more fun?"
TA-DA!!
I love these shoes! Just love them! I don't wear them often, but I should. I really love how the socks repeat not only the color of the shoes, but also the flowers. Fun,fun, fun!

I also took the effort to comb my hair back into a neat and tidy ponytail (its usually a messy ponytail), put alittle bit of makeup on and I even put earrings in my ears. My mom won a pretty pair of earrings at the ladies retreat this weekend. Her ears aren't pierced, so she gave them to me. I really like dangly earrings. I need to add a few to my jewelry box. I have a roundish face and I like how the long earrings help add some "length" to it.

So, I feel all pretty and put together today. I'm leaving to go thrift store shopping here after lunch, wish me luck! If I find anything good, I'll be sure to post it!

Fridays Outfit of the Day

I love this shirt. I found it last week at Christopher & Banks. It was on the marked-down racks plus they were having another 20% of already reduced prices, so I ended up paying something like $7.99 for a $35 shirt! Something about the collar and cuffs just make it look so smart and crisp.

I'm wearing jeans today. As much as I adore to wear skirts, I don't feel the need to do it 100% of the time. Sometimes I just like to kick around in a good pair of jeans. These are a very good pair. I bought them at Lane Bryant. It just about KILLED me to go in there and shop for the first time. Walking in, I felt like I had a big red sign over my head "YES WORLD, I'M FAT!!".

I'm actually right in between a size 12 or 14, depending, of course, on the brand. Most 12's are a little too snug and most 14's are a little too loose. I go for comfort, so I bought size 14 jeans and a nice belt. These jeans ROCK! They've got a little bit of stretch and they're boot-cut, very nice to help balance out a *ahem* ample bottom region. So, I'm a woman, I've got hips! No kidding! These jeans actually accept that fact.

Those shoes are some really, really expensive brand whose name I can't remember, from Germany. I didn't buy them. They cost an OUTRAGEOUS amount of $$, especially for a gal who buys food at Aldis, shoes at Payless and clothes at Goodwill. I didn't buy them, my mom did. She didn't like them and gave them to me. Lucky me!! I've got bad feet and these expensive, well-made shoes make ALOT of difference.
Fashionable? Not really.
Happy, pain-free feet?
Yes!Yes!

Frump-O-Rama

As part of my participation in the "Living Lives of Loveliness Week", I proposed to post my clothing choices each day. Monday and Tuesday were lovely. I put forth much more effort than I usually would, knowing that my gentle viewers (all 3 of you, not including my sister) would be viewing my wardrobe. It was fun, it was lovely. I looked nice and even felt pretty.
Not so today.
Today is just one of those days. Its cold, it snowed last night. I have no reason at all to leave the house. I'm tiiiired, none of my clothes fit right, I've got a backache, cramps and am retaining water like the Hoover Dam.

All I want to do today is sit on the sofa, sipping hot beverages, reading, napping and/or crocheting on my ripple afghan.

I am dressed accordingly.
*Warning!, the photo below contains a shockingly uncivilized amount of Frump. Proceed at your own risk. The owner of this website takes no responsibility for your reaction if you choose to look.*

OH THE HORROR!!
:)
Trust me, the chair looks much better in it than I do! I lurve my black yoga pants. The are so soft, so streachy, so comfy. I love the Colts, I love my husband, so wearing his Colts Sweatshirt makes me happy. Those are my most favorite fuzzy bright pink socks in the whole world. So soft, so warm, so furry. If Elmo had a sister, she would be made of this fabric! Plus, they were a Christmas gift from one of my boys, picked out with love, just for me! So special.

Pretty?
No.
Feminine?
No.
Comfy?
Yup!

If you will excuse me now, I hear a sofa, a hot cup of peppermint tea and a crochet hook calling me name....

(May you all have a soft, cozy, perfectly lovely in its own way, kind of day!!)

Commitment to Loveliness!

Whenever Emma over at
Charming the Birds from the Trees

hosts a Commitment to Loveliness week, I join in!

Here is my list of 5 things I will work on this week in order to bring more beauty and femininity into my realm:

1. Take better care of my hands and nails.
I need a manicure and I think I'll have my nails polished with a pretty pink polish.

2. Lotion,lotion,lotion.
My heels and hands are a mess from this cold, dry weather.

3. Smile more often.
Its sooooo easy for me to be a grouch this time of year.

4. Work harder on keeping the house tidy. Tidy. I love that word! Its so much better than chores or cleaning!

5. Dress nice, EVERYDAY!
I've really gotten lazy with this one. I've been living in my yoga pants and hubbys Colts sweatshirt. I'm going to post my outfit everyday here, good or bad.
Here is todays-
My favorite cream cable knit sweater paired with my favorite skirt. Its a brown wool blend skirt by Ralph Lauren that I found at Goodwill for $1.50!
Matching cable knit knee socks and my favorite pair of boots. I found the boots at WalMart last fall for less than $20. They are "EarthShoe" brand and oh so comfy!

3rd Post

Some pictures of my Ripple Stitch afghan. I'm not in love with the colors or the stitches.
It is very fluffy and soft though.

I'm using Caron's Simply Soft. I'd love to be able to make it in wool, but there is just no way I could afford it. :( The Caron's is pretty nice though even for being acrylic. Its not bad to crochet with. I've knitted with it and I hated it. It split like mad, but it works just fine with the hook. Those are my doggies little paws there.

I don't know if its the black or the dark green amongst all the brights that I'm not loving.

My outfit of the day-

jean skirt, pink tee, black zip-up sweater hoodie, pink knee socks
